the four fields
“The four fields are the context for our practices. They are an ecological and socio-political reinterpretation of teachings on the embodiment of awakening.” - Adam Lobel, Releasement
Boundaryless terrains of inquiry. Both discreet and cohering regions, blended by ecotones, where and when hierarchical distinctions yield to everpresent pulsings.
The four fields provide context for Fourth Season practice. Elemental and practical, energetic and dynamic, we find ourselves immersed in them. We are the fields. They surround us. Opening to, attending to, witnessing, playing within the fields is a pathless path.
Our time in history of rampant anthropocentrism - a runaway train of despoliation, upheaval, and inequity - beckons field practices. From the fields we may respond, rest, see what is needed, heed the call. To experience more deeply our interrelatedness with Earth, each other, and more-than-human kin. To turn towards beguiling subjectivity, enmeshment, and fathomless spaciousness. To love this world.
Immediate, aspected, material, faceted, empty, surfeiting, satisfying in color and quiet and boisterous resonance, not in any singular direction.
